Great performance from a severely weakened team. Only 15 athletes were able to make the match but provided a fantastic start with a last gasp win after a 2nd place in the 4 x 4 relay. We have to strengthen the field during the season but a brilliant day by Andrew Donno and Dave Ingram gave us a start to the 2008 season that will look for us to return to Division 1.

Overall, we had a good result, with many fine individual performances. In the under 15 section, Grace H achieved the entry standard for English Schools in javelin and there were pbs from Gabi and Emily L in long jump. Emma ran her first 1500m in under 5 minutes, Kerri-Ann produced an excellent run in the 200m and Ella ran a pb in hurdles. In the senior events, Grace G ran her heart out in all three events and ran an amazing last 100m in the 1500m to overtake the Reading athlete on the line, having completed the 3k just an hour earlier! Philippa and Fran both ran well in hurdles and the throwers excelled themselves, with big pbs for Steph and Emma. It was also good to welcome Anne and Sarah to the team – our throwing is strong at the moment! The wind made the senior long jump very difficult and we struggled to win points in the sprint events, despite some good personal times. However, the competition was very strong and we missed Laura! The next match will be tough too, when we meet Windsor, Colchester and Dacorum. Many thanks to the parents, coaches and Howard who supported the team – without you, it would be impossible!
